Lancelin is less than 1.5 hour’s (127 km’s) drive North of Perth Western Australia. A relaxing coastal village with about 800 permanent residents. During the holidays and peak periods (Oct – April) the population can expands into the thousands.
Located in an idyllic bay, off the coast of the Indian Ocean and an offshore island, Lancelin is a perfect holiday destination or even a day trip. The pristine beaches are pure white sand which extend hundreds kilometres North and South. Perfect for beach fishing, swimming, windsurfing, surfing and walking. Dolphins playing and feeding in the surf are a regular treat for the early morning walker.

Actvities in Lancelin include sandboarding, windsurfing, surfing, kite-surfing and body-boarding. Dune tours on the Desert Storm big bus or motorbike and quad hire. The dunes are perfect for dune buggies and four wheel driving. Fish from the beach or Jetty, take a deep-sea fishing charter or hire a dingy. Snorkelling and reef diving, golf, bowls and tennis, even horse-riding, the scenery is a photographers dream. Enjoy our spectacular sunsets at one of the restaurants, cafes bakeries or pub's.
Short day trips include travelling inland towards Gingin to visit the Bird Park, Wineries and historical Mogumber Mission. A trip via 4WD to Wedge Island or by road to Guilderton and the mouth of the Moore River.
There is no public transport to and from Lancelin other than by arrangement with accommodation providers.
The main industry of Lancelin and Ledge Point is Crayfishing. The season runs from November 15th to June 30th each year. Recreational licenses are available from the Fisheries Dept of WA or Australia Post. Some 100 boats are based in Lancelin. Approximately one hundred and fifty million dollars ($150,000,000) worth of crayfish are harvested each season – the majority are exported.
